The Angry Cockerel, so named as a tribute to its most recent inhabitant, a rather feisty cockerel, is a stunning barn conversion situated on the secluded Rowley Head Farm. The farm has 360-degree views and is set within the unspoilt North Pennines AONB. It is 7miles south of Hexham and only 9 miles from historic Roman town of Corbridge.

It provides an unforgettable escape where you can reconnect with nature, with footpaths and bridleways from your door. If you fancy venturing further afield it is ideally situated to explore Hadrians Wall, Kielder and it’s only an hour to the coastal towns of Tynemouth and Whitley Bay.

The Dale family Etti, Jeremy and son Archie run the farm, with sheep and horses a plenty. The wild bird life is unrivalled with varying species depending on the time of year, but Pewits, Curliews and Oyster Catchers are especially plentiful and special to the farm here. Just a few minutes walk onto the Fell and you will also see and hear Black Grouse.

The dark skies are incredible from Rowley Head and you can sometimes even see the northern lights, so don’t forget to step outside on a clear night and absorb the stunning world above.

Do contact Etti with any further questions or to discuss a particular trip, there may also be discounted rates for longer stays and repeat clients so do drop her an Email at info@theangrycockerel.co.uk

We can also cater for horse and pony stays, please contact Etti for details

Explore locally on foot

Walking down our driveway and turn left at the bottom to play in the Rowley Burn (our local stream) a hit with all children and adults alike. Nothing like a bit of water fun and a game of Pooh Sticks!

Walks from your door – Etti, who explored the area extensively last year while training for her Mont Blanc climb can provide maps detailing walks from 30 mins - 6 hours on request .

Walking across the fell to Allendale for a cream tea or further across to stunning historic Blanchland are two of her favourite day routes.
